Keyword Density: effective use can lead to better optimization

There are several ways that you can adopt to optimize your website. Search engine optimization usually revolves around the number and quality of organic visitors to a website. In order to achieve this, the web articles and content should be good enough for search engines to index the page. To make it easy for search engines to crawl to your site, you need to fill your website content with right keywords. Usage of correct keyword phrases for the promotion of website is very essential.

SEO and Keywords

In the world of SEO, website content needs to be written in an interesting way to target the potential customer. Quality content is what attracts the organic traffic and hence optimizing the content is an important part of SEO. The content displayed on web pages is the main source of keywords for which the website will be indexed in search engine results. It is all about incorporating the targeted keywords and keyword phrases that determine the relevance of the webpage; hence keywords form a vital part of SEO.
Keywords are prominently used in every form of online content that is optimized for search engine. You can see the use of keywords in blog entries, articles, press releases, video tags, forum posts, pay per click advertising campaigns and more. Ideal keywords in the content are usually located in title tag, meta description, anchor text for links, header fields, and author notes. Having right keywords is one of the best ways to drive good traffic to website and grab attention on the Internet.

Keyword Density

The number of keywords appearing on the webpage affects the search engine results as well. Often, it is considered that keyword density should be ideal to the content. This means the ratio of keywords should match the total number of words in the content. Lower keyword density with the occurrence of keywords only once or twice in a page of 500 words article goes without getting noticed by the search engine.
Higher density keywords might get your webpage de-ranked by the search engine. But again this depends on search engines and the algorithms they use. To be safer, it is always ideal to have a good percentage of keywords density in the content which looks natural and not too stuffed.
Importance of Keywords for effective SEO

Keyword placement is very essential in the content as search engines index the keywords whenever a search is made by ideal customer. Without keywords, search engines will not be able to index anything and there is literally nothing to be displayed in the search engine results page. Using keywords appropriately in webpage content does matter for both search engine and the ideal website visitor.
So, keywords are important for the webpage content to be ranked. It is also matters where and how the keywords are located. Successful and effective optimization requires placing the right keywords in many different areas and not just cramming the main keywords in one location. Keywords should be sprinkled all over the content of the page.
Title tag is the most targeted place for effective keyword placement. Placing the keyword in the homepage title that reflects the content of the webpage is also vital. Including keyword phrases in internal page titles that relate to the subject of the content does matter for better optimization. Anchor Text or Link Labels are also ideal for keyword positioning within the body of website content.
A Meta description which is actually displayed under the website title in the search results should contain keywords. Metadata is nothing but the summary of the webpage content and when it is displayed in the search results with the related keyword, there are more chances of getting organic traffic to your website.
Improving the keyword density with proper keyword placement in the webpage content will certainly maximize the effectiveness of search engine optimization.

  1. Based on experience, the best keyword density is usually 1-2%. Higher or lower than that could produce the opposite.

Appropriate keyword placement is also crucial. KW should be in the title, intro, and conclusion, and the rest of the % equally distributed in the post.

So, a 400-word post should have the KW 8 times in the post.

I don’t claim to be an expert, but this is what I have experienced.

    Thanks for the heads up.

  2. Helpful information. Keyword density definitely should be considered when creating content. It’s also helpful to make sure that keywords are placed where it will make sense to the reader and not just put in oddly to reach density.
