  1. I love the Ambitious theme – its so awesome. Its exactly what I was looking for and shouldn’t require too much modding!

  2. I almost skipped over this one because it doesn’t include any thumbnails of the themes… laziness of average the reader in this day and age haha

I notice that all of the themes accept the District 9 theme mention support for custom or Cufon fonts. It’s become much more common this year for good Typography to be used in site designs and for it to be a major part of site readability and UX and I, as a designer, feel it to be a very good move.

A lot of these themes come with shortcodes that can be used to make very engaging layouts and include interesting effects but I am not a fan of theme shorcodes because it causes theme lock-in.

I’m on the lookout for some inspiration for a drab looking homepage on a gaming site, I’ve picked up one or two things from some of these themes so thanks for sharing them.

  3. Personally, I am a huge fan of the Genesis framework and the associated child themes – they’re really easy to customise and you don’t need extra plugins for SEO etc.
