Calling Beginner Bloggers: You Too Can Monetize Your Blog

Some people take to blogging because they want to share their expertise or stories with other people. And then there are those people who take to blogging to make some extra cash.

If you’re interested in making money off your blog, you have probably read tons of blogs that tell you what you can do. But if you’re new to blogging, some of these ideas may have been way over your head and ability. If you’re a beginner blogger and you want to make some extra money, the following are easy ways that you and your lack of blogging experience can generate some extra cash through your blog.

PPC Ads

PPC stands for pay per click, and PPC ads are a great way to earn some extra money from your blog. Simply use a tool like Google AdSense to help you. Google AdSense will look over the content on your blog and place ads on your blog that are relevant to your content. Any time an ad is clicked through from your blog, you will earn money. The amount will vary depending on the ad and your site’s level of traffic, but it can be a great way for you to earn some extra money every month.

Widgets

Chances are you’re already using widgets on your blog, so why not use those that will help you make money, such as Gadget Ads. These widgets will work like a PPC ad, with each respective widget placing appropriate ads on your site that have a higher chance of getting clicked through. When the widgets are clicked on, you earn money. Simple as that.

Text Ads

Have you ever been reading a blog and came across some larger underlined content right smack dab in the middle of the blog? These are known as in text ads. Though they don’t look like traditional advertisements, they are. The content is linked to another site, and every time this text is clicked on, you will earn money.

Affiliate Marketing

Another great way to earn money while blogging is to become an affiliate. Companies like Best Buy and Amazon will provide you with a special link to their products, and anytime a purchase is made using your link, you will earn money. You can easily make recommendations to your audience about products you used and loved, and you may make some money.

Backlinks

Backlinks are a great way to generate traffic to other sites and play an important role in a site’s overall page ranking. If your blog earns a large amount of readers, you can offer to provide backlinks to other websites for a fee. This is much harder to do than post some PPC ads or widgets to your site, but it can still earn you some extra money through your blog.

Guest Blog

If you have valuable content to share with other blogs, make sure that you promote the fact that you’re willing to guest blog. Some guest bloggers charge a fee for their posts while others just accept the backlinks to their site as their “payment”. If you want to make some extra money, promote your willingness to guest blog and decide on a set price you want to charge. Just note that this will only work best for those bloggers who have a dedicated following and who are admired as an expert.

Making money off your blog is not a hard task, and you don’t need to be a seasoned and experienced blogger in order to make some extra cash. Just use these suggestions, and you’ll soon find checks coming in the mail.

  1. Hi Caleb,

I hear a lot of complaints from new bloggers about not getting accepted to the AdSense program. Do you have any advice that I can share with them? Do you need a certain level of traffic first?

    • Hi Ileana,

Thank you so much for your visit and comment, Although there isn’t a specific numbers announced by Google but you should know the minimum requirement to be accepted by Google like having a good amount of content, and good amount of traffic. I would say around 10 quality posts and around 10-20 visitors a day would make sure that you will get accepted. If you can’t meet these requirements their is still other ways to be accepted quickly like having a Youtube channel and applying as a Youtube partner for example.
